ex. 29
When I was still in high school, the teachers would hold rallies in the school parking lot to push for new controls. The teachers had already gone for three years without a contract, and they were starting to cut back on extra hours and field trips. The teachers would randomly all use their personal days at the same time. I was planning on attending one of the meetings with the school board to support my teachers. The evidence I heard so far had been supporting the teachers. However, I read an article in the newspaper about the teachers' contract issue, and I learned that the teachers had already turned sown a contract offer due to the fact that the pay raise was mot high enough. the high school's teachers were already one of the highest paid in the state.this got me thinking that most of our teachers were not even thinking about doing their job and educating students, but getting as much money as possible out of the school corporation. this made me thinking that i did not want anything to do with the issue. The school board insisted that the school could not afford to give them the desired wage, even though it was one of the wealthiest schools two years ago. On the other side, the teachers were asking for a raise that i, and many other students and parents, did not think they deserved t because they were impacting students just to get a raise. all i agreed with is that the teachers needed a contract, but should compromise on a raise. my decision ended up having no impact because to this day the teachers and the school board are still at odds. Also, there were few people that showed up to support the teachers anyway.
