Exercise on pg. 4
Public spheres could be bulletin boards, campus sidewalks, or the Rice library. The U.C. is also an example because it is an area where there are always a lot of students and people congregate there regularly. The school newspaper and radio station are also public spheres because information can be sent out to everyone involved with U.S.I. and/or on campus.

1. Will I be able to get a job after graduation?
2. Will I be able to get a job right now, in order to pay for college?
3. Will the economy rebound?
4. Is our government as selfish and immoral as it seems to be?


Analyzing a blog

The writer does not give much obvious information about themselves. But through the writing, one can tell that the writer of the blog on anarchy, and the Israeli- Palestinian conflict is clearly sympathetic to the Palestinians. The writer is also at the very least against the United States’ support of Israel.
The site is interesting, and it seems that people against Israel and anarchists are the main targets. The readers would surely fall into one, if not both, categories.
Readers can also be researching the topic of anarchism and trying to learn more about people who are anarchists and how they view events in the world. The blog is entitled National Anarchism! So it is possible that the writer is mainly targeting anarchists as potential readers. The blog’s location is supposed to be Afghanistan, so the writer may also want to attract Muslims or people in that area of the world. Readers could be Islamic, but other than the support of Palestine and the anti- Israeli arguments with facts that are not helpful to Israel or their allies, there is nothing that would ideologically attract Muslims. One can assume that readers could be Muslim by looking at the blog’s content. Also, Afghanistan is an Islamic nation, and all the nations in the Middle East are Islamic. Also, Palestinians are mainly thought of as Muslims. Until recently, most westerners have mainly supported Israel. So,
